The Experience

We need help from women with childcare experience caring for young children (mainly for my twin boys age 3) If you apply as a couple one of you will be asked to help with garden or cleaning (see other 2 position for details). You are expected to engage them and supervise them, sing and read to them. you must be energetic and engaging and cannot be on your phone while looking after them. I also expect you to help clean and tidy up with/after them.

It was an amazing experience, I would totally love to go back!! Grateful for all of the experiences, tours, the amazing food & the coziness in the home Val created with her family ❤️ Definitely more of a home stay so keep that in mind but I loved it so much!!

I think i disagree with the statement that this is more of a homestay… at least from what i have read about homestays… i mean yes this is our home, we do live here…but we have worked on creating a retreat and healing space hosting ceremonies workshops and more for people for over 6 years now and have acquired experience doing this kind of work abroad for many many years before that… so even though this is our home, the reason we open it up to share with others is to provide an opportunity for people to experience the healing and spiritual practices we feel compelled to share with others…the purpose is not at all for us to get help around our home…

This experience was truly beautiful, if you are looking for an escape from your busy life this is definitely the place. I only had to work for a little bit each morning, then you have the rest of the day to spend as you choose whether that is just relaxing at the bodega or going into town. The walk into town is 1 hour but it's a really nice walk and most of the locals will give you rides! Val and her family are so friendly, caring and genuine. Val provided quite a large meal every day often keeping me full all night. I also had to cut my trip short and Val was so supportive and understanding.

I had to get used to staying at the Center for a bit, but started to enjoy it more everyday. It feels a bit like a (remote) family homestay, so if that is what you are searching for i would definitely recommend. The tent feels clean and cozy, and the garden and surrounding nature was my favourite of all Costa Rica! The yoga studio is awesome to practise yourself. If you are lucky, there will be more volunteers with you. Cleaning is repetitive but the work hours are ok, you have the whole afternoon for yourself. If you go, make sure to visit Oscar and his Finca (farm), it was so magical!!

yes this is our home and we live in a remote area in the mountains, we also run spiritual/ healing retreats and ceremonies in this space we have created to share with others… i sincerely hope that my description on worldpackers reflects this as i have been a bit thrown off by people’s needs to specify that this is a “homestay”… maybe i need to modify the description to better specify that this is our home as well as a space for retreats into nature and participation in healing ceremony…

We had a great time at the Center! Valerie, Rurico and their kids are very nice and welcoming. They where very flexible with the working hours so we were able to do alot of things in the afternoon around Bijagua. In the evening they often also had a program at their place for example aztec dance, meditation, medical healing ceremonies and many other things. Valeries cooking skills are awesome. Every day there was a different kind of lunch. When I was sick I was able to work a little less and Rurico even gave me sth against my cough, I felt like I was home. Thank you so much!!<3

I had an overall great stay at the Center! The place is so beautiful. I did the cleaning which was easy and flexible with hours and you still get plenty of time to yourself. I did some gardening as well but it was a bit too tough for me and 5 hours felt long. Val's lunches were yummy & healthy! This is a great opportunity if you're looking to be immersed in nature, have an authentic experience with the locals, and lots of time to reflect & grow spiritually. So much love for everyone I met including Valerie, Rurico, Juni, Justin, my fellow volunteer, the kids & sweet animals <3
